Bio Peter Economos - Roadhouse Collectable Auctions

Bio Peter Economos

I started my collection of vintage Australian branded items in 2018 — especially those items linked to service stations, corner stores, and milk bars from before the 1970s. Prior to 2018 I was collecting rare books.

Over time, I have been fortunate to assemble a broad collection of oil and petrol memorabilia, grocery and milk bar items, and medical-related pieces, including enamel signs, light boxes, tins, bottles, and original packaging.

Through this journey, I have had the opportunity to acquire some key items at auction and even purchase entire collections. Many long-lasting friendships have now been formed through these shared interests, and I have also met hundreds of other collectors and sellers in that time.

What began as a personal interest has grown into a deeper commitment to preserving these pieces of everyday history. I enjoy having them for what they represent, being a snapshot of the past, and I find it relaxing to be surrounded by these reminders of that past.

With my family having been involved in cafes for much of my life (I have also had 2 cafes myself many moons ago), so some of these objects hold even more meaning for me personally.

We are all just temporary custodians of these items. The passion for preserving and sharing these items led to the creation of Roadhouse Collectable Auctions — a platform to connect collectors across Australia and give these items a new home.

It’s a way for me to stay connected to what I love, while helping others build collections that mean something to them too.
